New MaxPERF Application in SE Saskatchewan!!!
A FIRST FOR PENETRATORS CANADA INC. & A UNIQUE MODIFICATION TO THE MaxPERF DRILLING TOOL TECHNOLOGY!!!
A modified version of the MaxPERF Drilling Tool was used this month was in a well in SE Saskatchewan to obtain core samples of primary cement from outside the 139.7mm casing. Five tool runs were performed and 4 core samples of cement were returned to surface... the cores were approximately 10.0mm OD and 38.0mm long.
The technique utilized the MaxPERF milling bit to mill throught the casing wall and then, with a specialized coring bit attached to the MaxPERF drill stem (along with other modifications to the tool assembly), extend the coring assembly into the cement sheath to acquire a core sample.
This operation was a joint effort between Penetrators Canada and three other parties working towards effective injection and storage of CO2 in SE Saskatchewan formations. All involved with this project are very pleased with this first attempt at cement core sampling with the MaxPERF Drilling Tool Technology.
