Compare a perf/frac completion to a MaxPERF completion in the Bakken formation
Renegade Oil & Gas Ltd. has used the MaxPERF Drilling Tool in numerous formations in SE Saskatchewan. When a Bakken completion was scheduled, Renegade personnel felt that a frac stimulation was risky due to a close water contact on logs. Eight MaxPERF penetrations were completed in the top one meter section of this Bakken, staying as far away from the water zone as possible while maximizing reservoir conductivity.
The initial production rate was very good at +/-29m3/D of clean oil and after a few months the production rate was stable at +/-16m3/D with a water cut <5%. Sixteen months after the completion the well was producing +/-11m3/D oil and had accumulated over 6300m3 of oil.
